The Bangor Fire Station was constructed in conjunction with the County of Butte, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, and the United States Department of Agriculture. Originally built in the 60’s, the station was in poor shape.
We decided to demolish the existing station and start from scratch, although we ensured the apparatus bay was operational during the course of construction.
The new 5,300 sq. ft. facility was designed to be an essential base of operations for fire and rescue services in this rural area of northern California. Located within a Wild Land/Urban Interface Fire Area (WUI), we designed the structure to be compliant with the Wild Land Hazard & Building codes.
Key features of the new station include sleeping quarters for a full-time staff (up to six firefighters), a weight room, large capacity laundry room, full kitchen, state of the art communications, and a backup generator.
